Icthys Module Modular Design Prototype - In Collaboration with Mun Hee Lee
Process: Rhinoceros 3D with T-Splines Surface Modelling, Kuka 5-Axis CNC, Sanding
Ichthys is a design exploration and digital fabrication of self-similar modules which link together to create a larger figure. With the use of a 5-axis CNC mill, we are able to create physical prototypes of doubly curved surfaces and explore new possibilities of modularity. Inspired by the segmented thorax of isopods and the placoid scale of sharks, the loose interlocking of each module allows for a controlled range of motion and aggregation.
